Windows 11 SE: What You Can And Can't Do In Microsoft's Remote Learning OS

Microsoft launched Windows 11 SE, its student-oriented operating system, in November following the rollout in October of Windows 11. Windows 11 SE was built with teachers and students in mind and is meant to offer a simple, uncluttered environment for children, according to Microsoft.

It's not the first student-focused operating system Microsoft has created. Windows 10 S was the student-oriented version of Windows 10, but Microsoft stated that the version of Windows 10 only blocked certain applications from downloading similar to parental controls. However, Windows 11 SE is an operating system that is distinct from Windows 10 SE that focuses on remote management.

Many schools across the United States started remote learning during the epidemic access to reliable hardware and software was vital for many children in school to continue their education. Microsoft made Windows 11 SE with that in mind.

What is Windows 11 SE? Microsoft Windows 11 SE is a cloud first operating system that's designed for K-8 classrooms. It has a simple design and controlled application installation. The software isn't available in stores as it is classroom-focused. Instead, Windows 11 SE comes preloaded on select Microsoft devices that Microsoft plans on selling to education organizations.

Is it possible to install Windows 11 SE on a home laptop?  minecraft-servers.biz , no. Windows SE cannot be installed on your home computer the same way that Windows 10 or Windows 11 could. However, you can purchase a different version Windows and install it on your Windows 11 SE-enabled laptop after it's been erased by an IT administrator. The device will not be able return to Windows 11 SE, though, so be cautious before taking this step.

What apps work with Windows 11 SE devices? Microsoft Office, Teams and Minecraft for Education are all preloaded on Windows 11 SE devices. Apps such as Google Chrome or Zoom can be downloaded. Administrators are able to download and manage additional apps through Microsoft Intune for Education. Microsoft has provided this list of six kinds of apps that are available for download:

Apps for filtering content

Test-taking "solutions"

Accessibility applications

Effective classroom communication apps

Apps for critical diagnostics management, connectivity, and supportability

Browsers

Messenger and Spotify apps didn't make it. This means that there are fewer distractions available to Windows 11 SE users. However, Microsoft said apps that work in a web browser will still work.

You also can't change any of the settings within the operating system. Like the apps, only administrators can modify them. Administrators can also remotely wipe the device remotely.

What is the difference between Windows 11 and Windows 11 compare? Windows 11 SE and Windows 11 SE are different in the sense that Windows 11 was intended for personal use, whereas Windows 11 SE was created to manage remote IT or classroom settings. The different goals influence how users access the operating system and which apps can be installed on the system. Windows 11 can be upgraded from Windows 10. Windows 11 does not have any restrictions on apps. On Windows 11 SE, only administrators can add apps and even then, from a limited selection. The operating systems function and appear identical if you do not.
